The type 180a is 118.47 m long, 21 m wide, measured with 6,725 GT and has a carrying capacity of 7,350 tdw. A conspicuous feature of the underwater hull is the pronounced bulging bow, which serves not only to optimise the ship’s speed but also to increase displacement. The bridge house with the messrooms, lounges, chambers and the galley is located in the fore ship area. The provisioning rooms and the air conditioning room are located in the tween deck. The drinking water and waste water system as well as the refrigeration compressors for the air conditioning system are located on the lowest deck.
On this deck on port side are the watertight bulkhead sliding doors (which can be operated locally or centrally) to the port walkway. On the starboard side are the watertight bulkhead doors (which can be operated locally only) to the starboard gangways leading aft to the pump room and engine rooms. Also located here is the huge gate valve for the suction line of the dredging pumps from the forward, port side sea chest.
