In contrast to a jack-up platform, a construction vessel (short form of offshore wind turbine installation vessel, also known as installation ship) is a special work vessel built for the foundation and construction of offshore wind turbines, with a heavy-duty crane and its own powerful engine and propulsion systems suitable for propulsion and dynamic positioning. It also has lifting devices to enable it to work independently of the sea.
